Post Jam: Demake Jam

Well that could've gone better.

The perfectionist in me wants to delete this project and throw my harddrive in a fire or work on it so long it never gets posted. But lets try to be constructive.

What I am proud of: How much I learned (state machines, tilesets, new functions, regions, cameras).

What needs to be improved: Time management, file organization, animations, overall pixel art skill.

FAQ (asked by me)

Where are the clouds?

I was trying to add them but couldn't get them to look the way I wanted so I decided not to include them.

When I press the move keys my character automatically starts running?

Intentional. I thought it would pair nicely with the idea of momentum. You can't stop unless you are stopped.

Why is _____ not perfectly centered? Why is _____ not included? Why do I get stuck in a wall? Why no tutorial? etc. etc.

Either I used an extremely inefficient or unconventional way of solving a problem I didn't know how to fix, cut certain features I wanted to include because I decided I would not be able to finish in the allotted time with my current capabilities, or I just didn't want to look at the game anymore . This all bothers me but I m cutting myself off. I need to take my mistakes, seek for solutions or fix it for future projects, take that information and move on. If I let myself nitpick, as I said above, it would never even be posted. Part of the reason I am doing game jams is to:

1. Learn and improve by DOING.

2. Train myself to be okay with imperfection.

Thanks for reading!

Until next time
